Adventure is not always about going further.

Sometimes it is about going deeper.

Coaching at Athara Adventures offers a grounded, values-led space to pause, listen, and reconnect with what matters most. It is for people and organizations that are capable, thoughtful, and ready to relate to themselves, their work, and their lives with greater honesty and care.

Athara Adventures offers online coaching, working one-to-one and in small groups to support clarity, resilience, and values-led change. This work often resonates with people navigating transition, growth, and reorientation. Coaching at Athara is shaped by fit, readiness, and intention rather than labels.

This work reflects the same integrity, courage, and respect for human experience that shape every Athara retreat and journey.

Growth is not about fixing yourself.

It is about learning how to meet yourself with greater wisdom and kindness.

Coaching at Athara is rooted in the understanding that you are not broken. Growth does not come from self-improvement or relentless effort, but from learning how to relate differently to your inner experience so that thoughts, emotions, and old patterns no longer quietly run your life.

This reflective work weaves the most current psychological science available with contemplative practices, alongside an invitation to hold the serious, the absurd, and the humorous all at once. It creates space to understand yourself with more clarity and compassion, and to move forward in ways that feel intentional rather than reactive.

Coaching is led by Seoka Salstrom, PhD, co-founder of Athara Adventures.

Seoka brings more than twenty years of clinical training and professional experience into this work, alongside a life shaped by mountains, movement, leadership, and sustained meditation practice. Her approach is rigorous and grounded, but also warm, human, and often light.

There is room here for humor as well as difficulty, for steadiness as well as vulnerability. Growth is not performative. It is relational, honest, and deeply human.

  • Seoka Salstrom is a clinical psychologist by training and a co-founder of Athara Adventures. She has spent more than two decades working with people navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and profound uncertainty, across clinical, community, and retreat settings.

Her professional background includes extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), behavioral science, psychological flexibility, and trauma-informed care. She has worked in university medical centers, the VA, community clinics, schools, and private practice, supporting people across the lifespan and in some of life’s most challenging circumstances.

Alongside this professional path, Seoka’s life has been shaped by long periods in the mountains, extended walking, retreat leadership, and sustained personal practice. She knows what it is to overwork, to ignore the body, and to be brought back to listening through injury, illness, burnout, and significant change.

This combination of clinical training and lived experience shapes a coaching style that is grounded, honest, and deeply human. Seoka works with seriousness and care, but also with humor and warmth. She believes growth comes not from fixing or striving, but from learning how to relate more kindly and clearly to the full range of human experience.

Seoka now lives in France and offers coaching online to men and women across Europe, North America, and beyond.

When you understand your inner world, choice becomes possible.

Most of us were never taught how the mind works, why we have emotions, or what to do with them. The mind naturally judges, compares, evaluates, and tries to protect us. Without awareness, these habits can quietly shape our lives, often pulling us away from what we care about most.

Coaching does not aim to eliminate thoughts or emotions. Instead, it supports learning how to work with them more wisely. Over time, many people experience a meaningful shift in how they relate to themselves.

Self-compassion grows. Old patterns lose some of their grip. Life begins to feel less like a struggle against yourself and more like a steady movement forward, guided by clarity and choice.

For people who have lived capable lives

and are ready to live more truthfully.

This coaching is particularly suited to people who have taken responsibility, carried complexity, and met the demands of their lives and work with competence, yet feel inwardly constrained, restless, or disconnected.

Many reach out during periods of transition, such as midlife changes, identity shifts, leadership transitions, or moments of reorientation. Others come when life appears stable on the surface, but something essential feels unfinished.

You do not need to be in crisis to do this work. Curiosity, readiness, and a willingness to listen are enough.

Change does not come from pushing harder.

It comes from responding more wisely.

Through this coaching process, people often develop a steadier relationship with themselves and their lives. Internal battles soften. Decisions feel more grounded. There is more freedom to respond intentionally rather than react automatically.

Over time, many describe a renewed sense of trust in themselves and their capacity to navigate a complex, messy, meaningful life.

Coaching and retreats are part of the same path.

Coaching and retreat work at Athara are closely connected. Coaching may support preparation before a retreat, integration afterwards, or stand alone for those not ready or able to travel.

For many people, coaching becomes a steady companion to the broader Athara experiences.

Common areas of focus include:

  • Leadership during periods of transition or uncertainty

  • Sustainable performance and burnout prevention

  • Values-led leadership and ethical decision-making

  • Supporting professionals who carry significant emotional or relational load

This work may be offered as one-to-one coaching for leaders, small group or cohort-based programs, with short-term or longer-term engagements. All coaching within organizations is shaped collaboratively, with attention to context, culture, and intention.
