SKILLS + FITNESS

Your tour route takes you to some very beautiful and, at times, rather remote locations. This is one of the uniquely memorable aspects of experiencing places to which only your legs or e-bike can take you!

We have created guidelines for self-assessment and physical preparation, which will help you make the most of your Athara Adventures experience. We recommend that you follow our guidelines or create your own structured training plan prior to the start of your tour. The saying "train hard, hike easy" means that you won't struggle to reach the mountain top and can enjoy the beautiful views without being injured.

We offer a range of tours suitable for individuals of all fitness levels. From those who walk twice a week or are new to mountain biking to those who prefer a more challenging experience, such as hiking multiple 16-mile days without support or biking steep inclines and declines, you can find multiple options on our Tours page. Each one of our tours is ranked from one to five to help you choose what’s right for you.

It's important not to feel intimidated by the physical demands of the tour. Developing your fitness slowly will allow for an enjoyable experience leading up to your vacation, and possibly create a life-long habit. To help you with this, we've partnered with Andrew Stowe Fitness LLC, a certified personal trainer who has created training plans specific to each hiking tour. Additionally, we've teamed up with Christina Mattsson of Epic Life Fitness, who can answer any questions you may have about mountain bike training. Both Andrew and Christina are available for personal consultations to provide an individualized approach to your fitness needs. If you're unsure which tour to choose, we've also provided hiking and biking self-assessments to make the decision easier for you.

Athara Adventures plans bail-out points along every route in case someone cannot complete a section. We can often create slightly modified experiences for any given section to ensure each participant can fully enjoy the landscape and their tour.

We are excited for you to join us on a tour. However, please remember the mountains require you to take complete responsibility for yourself. This includes your training, knowledge of your gear, and your actions while on the mountain. If you have any questions about which tour is best suited for you, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at contact@atharaadventures.com or call us at 1-888-200-6988.
