2023 Year in Review

By Athara Adventures

This past year was truly unique for Athara Adventures. Our participants brought so much heart and joy to the opening fall season that we wanted to share it with you.

About the Adventure

Athara Adventurers hiked and e-biked 311km (about twice the distance from Washington, D.C. to New York City), heading into the mountains for an average of 228 minutes per outing. Over the season, our travelers ascended 7900m (about the height of Mount Everest) and descended 7960m (about 4.95 mi), reaching a maximum elevation of 1352m (about half the height of Mount St. Helens).

New and ancient paths were traversed, covering hundreds of years of history. There were 72 shared meals throughout the season, including picnics on the mountain, dinners at Michelin-starred restaurants, farm-to-table meats and produce, and award-winning wine, all with 100% southern French hospitality.

About the Adventurers

Eighty percent of our participants were female. The youngest participant was 21, and our oldest was 74 years young. About a quarter of our participants were solo travelers, although if corporate retreats are removed from the calculation, the average jumps to 42%. At almost a 50/50 split, that tells us that you'll be in good company whether you travel independently or with a partner.

Athara Adventures considers each person's experience from booking to arrival to departure and everything between. This preparation allows for an immersive experience both on and off the mountain. There was sweat, laughter, and amazement, especially when each person realized their capabilities.

"The hikes we did were challenging, and I always felt like I was in safe hands with the team as they were so knowledgeable about the terrain, the equipment, and safety in general - we did daily pre-hike warm-ups and pack checks. I have so many amazing memories of my time in France, gorgeous views of the French country side, great food (and wine) and spending time with some amazing people. Most of all, the team helped me to realise that I can climb any mountain with my own two legs! I can't wait to book another trip soon!" -Erana H., Australia

Our participants left as different people than how they arrived. With carefully crafted experiences, we provided our clients opportunities to step out of daily routines and see the world and themselves with fresh eyes.

Join us in the mountains in 2024. We were now booking spring and fall tours at atharaadventures.com.
