A reflective retreat for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, change, and a deep reorientation of self
Many women reach a point where the shape of life begins to change quietly but profoundly. Energy shifts. Sleep becomes less predictable. Emotions may feel closer to the surface. What once worked physically, emotionally, or practically no longer does in the same way.
Perimenopause and menopause often arrive alongside other transitions. Children growing more independent. Careers evolving or burning out. Relationships shifting. A growing awareness that your inner world is asking for something different. There may be a sense of grief for what has passed, alongside a pull toward something more honest, more alive, more aligned.
This retreat creates time away from routine to pause, reconnect with yourself, and understand the changes unfolding within you. Within a calm, psychologically grounded retreat for women, it offers meaningful menopause support and space to reflect on what this stage of life is asking of you, and how to meet it with clarity, confidence, and compassion.
“Amid the daily noise and rush of responsibilities, many of us feel a quiet pull toward something deeper and more purposeful. A desire to slow down and reflect on what truly matters.”
Athara Retreats by Seoka Salstrom, PhD, offers an opportunity to do just that.
A wellness retreat designed to strengthen self-trust during midlife transition
This time can be both freeing and disorientating. For many women in their forties and fifties, it is a time when long-held roles, expectations, and ways of living begin to loosen. You may have spent years caring for others, sustaining families, building careers, or carrying responsibilities that shaped your identity.
As your body and energy change, a quiet space can open up. It can feel unfamiliar, even unsettling, to turn inward and ask: Who am I now? What do I want next? What truly matters to me at this stage of my life?
This retreat exists to meet that moment with honesty, warmth, and depth. It provides the time and space to pause, reconnect with your own needs, and explore this next chapter without pressure to have everything figured out.
Surrounded by nature and supported by thoughtful facilitation, gentle humor, and a sense of camaraderie, you will explore what matters to you now, what you want to carry forward, and what you are ready to release.
It is a grounded, experiential, reflective retreat for women who feel ready to realign with themselves in a meaningful way.
This is a thoughtfully designed women’s retreat to support you through menopause
This retreat brings together grounded psychological insight, practical tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and evidence-informed understanding of the physical and emotional changes that accompany perimenopause and menopause.
It is not therapy.
It is not a wellness escape.
It is a considered, emotionally intelligent space where you can understand who you are becoming, reconnect with your body and inner wisdom, and explore what comes next without judgement or pressure.
The holistic retreat focuses on identity, clarity, vitality, self compassion, and the courage to listen to yourself, especially when that inner knowing is pointing toward change.
Guided by Seoka Salstrom, PhD, the experience balances depth with ease, allowing you to explore important questions while feeling grounded, supported, and steady.

Exploring the Emotions and Questions That Shape Perimenopause and Menopause
-
Perimenopause and menopause involve a significant developmental transition, not only hormonally but emotionally and psychologically as well. Many women notice changes in sleep, energy, mood, cognition, and stress tolerance, alongside deeper questions about identity, purpose, and pacing.
These menopausal changes, sometimes experienced as menopause brain fog or emotional reactivity, can feel unsettling or lead to self-doubt, particularly during periods of sustained stress or transition. For many women, they are recognised as early signs of menopause, even when cycles are still present or symptoms feel inconsistent.
This retreat offers space, guidance, and practical tools to understand these shifts more clearly. Through reflective sessions, experiential exercises, and gentle conversation, you will explore how your body and nervous system are responding, and begin working with these changes rather than against them, with greater understanding and self-compassion.

Dr. Duncan will join the retreat for a virtual seminar to offer clear, evidence-based guidance on women’s health, including hormonal changes and the role of hormone therapy in whole-body health during midlife and beyond, with time for thoughtful, open Q&A.

This retreat is guided by people who understand both the science of change and the lived experience of moving through it.
Seoka Salstrom, PhD, is a clinical psychologist with over twenty years of experience supporting women through periods of transition. Her work draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and neuroscience-informed approaches to help people build self-trust, emotional flexibility, and clarity during times of uncertainty. Seoka brings depth, steadiness, and warmth to the retreat space, holding conversations that are thoughtful, humane, and grounded in evidence.
She is supported by Sarah Newell, who offers consistent group care throughout the retreat. Sarah helps attend to the practical and relational aspects of the experience, ensuring that participants feel supported, oriented, and at ease as the group unfolds.
We are also in the process of confirming the participation of Laura Duncan, MD, a physician with expertise in women’s health and hormonal transitions. Laura is expected to join the retreat to share medical insight on perimenopause and menopause, including dedicated sessions for education and open Q&A, bringing clarity to the physical changes many women experience during this stage of life.
Together, the team creates a space that is psychologically safe, intellectually grounded, and deeply respectful of each woman’s experience. This is not about being led or fixed, but about being supported as you learn to listen more carefully to yourself.
-
Together, we explore:
understanding who you are beyond long-held roles and expectations
emotional literacy and nervous system regulation during hormonal change
self-compassion as a powerful antidote to shame and burnout
boundaries, energy, and redefining success on your own terms
sleep support and evidence-based approaches to insomnia
reconnecting with vitality, play, and enjoyment, even in small bursts
listening to your body as a source of wisdom, not something to override
meeting uncertainty, fear, and possibility with grounded courage
These themes are approached gently and practically. Nothing is forced, and there is no expectation to share more than feels comfortable. The work unfolds at your pace, in a space designed for honesty, care, and genuine reconnection.
